Bangladesh Garment Industry -2024

Bangladesh's garment industry suffered collective production losses of nearly USD 400 million due to labor unrest in September and early October 2024. However, according to the president of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association, the industry has now regained stability as the labor situation in major industrial belts improved.

Meanwhile, the BGMEA chief urged the interim government to allow the use of gas from CNG refueling stations as industrial units are not getting an adequate fuel supply.

Furthermore, the authority was not to disconnect factories from utility services, such as gas or electricity, for failing to pay bills for the next three months as most of them were affected by the labor unrest.

• Lower bank interest rates to single digits
• Joint security force for garment industrial belts
• Allocate interest-free loans for 39 ailing units
• Expedite loading and unloading activities at the Chittagong part.

👉 BGMEA is continually engaging with foreign stakeholders to attract them more. Exporters highlighted that maintaining law and order alongside discipline is now the major challenge for the garment industry.

👉 By hook or by crook should overcome the situation as early as possible. I hope that Interim Govt. is able to tackle such a situation. 

Consequently, the garment industry fulfills its target income in yearly.
