Uzbekistan has a long history as an ancient hub on the Silk Road, first inhabited by the Sogdians and Bactrians, and later 
part of the Persian Empire and Alexander the Great's realm. < >
It became a center of Islamic culture under the Samanid dynasty  before being conquered by the Mongols in the 13th century and later flourishing under Tamerlane's empire. 
In the 19th century, it was gradually absorbed by the Russian Empire and became the Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic in 1924 before gaining full independence in 1991. There are key eras, including the Persian-influenced Sogdiana, the rise of the powerful Turkic Khanate, the Arab conquest and introduction of Islam, the Timurid Renaissance under Amir Timur, and the Soviet era, during which the modern borders of the Uzbek [SSR] were established. Though Uzbekistan has a rich culture and heritage as well. This land is rich and has its own identity as well.

Uzbeks always used to speak the russian language; English was commonly not used.

Meanwhile, in 2025, Uzbekistan received 8.6 million foreign tourists, marking a 112.5% increase from the same period in the previous year. The number of visitors from countries like the UK, Qatar, and Poland increased significantly, with tourism revenue reaching a record $3.6 billion in 2025. In the first five months of 2025, 4.2 million tourists visited, a 1.7 million increase over the same period in 2024. The export revenue from tourism services is 3.6 billion USD. The top countries for tourist arrivals in Uzbekistan are primarily from neighboring Central Asian nations like Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Tajikistan, which have the highest numbers, followed by Russia. Moreover, tourists also come from more countries, like China, Turkey, India, and South Korea.
