Beauty and Diversify culture in Serbia
Serbian young girl
Serbia's history includes the medieval Serbian Empire, followed by centuries of Ottoman rule after the 1389 Battle of Kosovo. It gained autonomy in the 19th century, full independence in 1878, and then became an important part of Yugoslavia after World War I. After World War II, it was a federal republic, and following the violent dissolution of Yugoslavia in the 1990s, Serbia again became an independent state in 2006.

Short History

Serbia's history is reflected in its rich cultural heritage, from ancient Roman ruins to medieval fortresses and Ottoman-era towns, offering a unique mix of different civilizations. Tourists can explore this history at various sites, such as the Kalemegdan Fortress in Belgrade, the medieval monasteries of the Fruška Gora region, and the charming historic center of Novi Sad.
